• OIL AND GAS DRILLING: Sandoval County needs strong and comprehensive regulations that act in the best interest of all its citizens. Katherine supports a ban on new drilling permits until new regulations are in place, with tough engineering, environmental, safety and operations requirements. In order to maintain our quality of life in District 1, the protection of water resources, clean air and property values is essential. The Government's role in Sandoval County is to protect the health, safety and welfare of it's residents.

  • SAND AND GRAVEL MINING:  Katherine opposes any new gravel mines in District 1 as well as the designation by the BLM of any of the Buffalo Tract for mining. She believes that the County should strictly monitor current operations and take legal action when necessary. Mining brings few economic benefits to Sandoval while simultaneously requiring heavy use of County resources such as roads and emergency services.

  • INFRASTRUCTURE: Good roads are essential for economic development and Katherine strongly believes in maintaining and improving our existing roads and facilities.  She supports the rehabilitation and expansion of current buildings over new construction and is a proponent of exploring new sources of funding for municipalities.
